What is Regret?
Regret is the heavyweight of yesterday.
It keeps reminding you of past mistakes and missed opportunities.
Regret makes you think there were ways you would have used but didn’t.
A student who had enough time to study but wasted it may regret poor results later.
Regret is a cage of the past.
It imprisons your mind in what already happened instead of allowing you to move forward.
Regret is a hijacker of the present.
It steals your peace, joy, and focus for today.
Things That Lead Us to Regret
1. Your Actions
Your actions may lead you to regret.
• Esau sold his birthright carelessly and later regretted it bitterly.
• A person may misuse money, destroy relationships, or ignore godly counsel and later regret it.
2. Inaction
You may neglect to take action towards something and end up living with regret.
• Failing to fuel your car before embarking on a journey.
• Refusing to apply for an opportunity because of fear.
• Delaying salvation or delaying obedience to God.
3. Reactions
The way you react to situations may leave you with regrets.
• Speaking harsh words in anger that destroy relationships.
• Making decisions while emotional.
• Moses reacted in anger and struck the rock instead of speaking to it.

Protect what God has given you — your family, ministry, marriage, career, and salvation.

Irresponsible choices often return with painful consequences.

How to Break Yourself Free from Regrets
1. Forgive Yourself
Stop replaying your mistakes repeatedly.
• Peter denied Jesus but later became a great apostle.
2. Open the Doors of Your Own Prison
• Some prisons are mental prisons built by guilt and shame.
3. Forgive Those Who May Have Contributed to Your Regrets
• Joseph forgave his brothers instead of living bitterly.
4. Shift Your Mindset from Self-Condemnation to Learning
• Instead of saying “I failed,” say “I learned.”
5. Leave What You Cannot Control and Focus on What You Can Control
• You cannot change yesterday, but you can change today's decisions.
6. Ask God for a Second Chance
• Jonah failed initially, but God gave him another opportunity to fulfill his assignment.
